CREAZIONI The new virtuosity of artistic crafts

The Creazioni section gets richer every year, both for the number of exhibitors and for the types of product. In this edition, it covers an area of around 600 sq.m. in Hall 1 at Macef – The International Home Show, 5-8 September 2008. The initiative is organized by Fiera Milano International in collaboration with Artex – the Centre forf Artistic and Traditional Tuscan Crafts with the sponsorship of CNA and Confartigianato. Not by chance it is included in the Furnishings and Decoration section, where furnishing accessories, decorations, textiles and design objects are the protagonists.
The exhibits are of great impact and noticeably different from each other, but the setting, carefully designed down to the smallest detail, gives an overall, coordinated look based on an organic concept.

The Creazioni project focuses in primis on giving space to the legacy of innovation and research that exists in the Italian and international artistic crafts sector, with the intention of creating new opportunities for those working in the sector. The aim is to put the spotlight on products in which the value of the project itself emerges, like a “research” project where the concept takes concrete shape – thanks to exceptional technical and manual skills - as a unique piece with a distinct personality.

The singularity, preciousness, curiosity and innovation of the products chosen reflect the creative idea at the basis of the project. On display will be “dynamic” pieces, chosen for the energy they project and for their significance, which often goes beyond mere use; for design in everyday life and the rediscovery of ancient materials worked in innovative ways.

Decorative objects where copper, glass and wood are shaped into mirrors, clocks, trays and articles for the table. Ceramics made using the ancient Raku technique. And jewellery in gold, silver and bronze designed with essential lines or enriched with stones; notebooks and photo albums in extravagant papers; pieces in ceramics or fused glass with strange, light, flowing shapes in captivating colours. Even the lights become sculptures that decorate

Alongside the recognized, established companies taking part are a growing number, compared with past editions, of young enterprises essentially consisting of designers and/or artists who produce their own creations. The common denominator, a rigorously high level of quality, traces a complete picture of the trends in italian and European artistic crafts.
